Instructions
Rules for presenting the request to graduate
In order to present the request to graduate, students must be enrolled in the academic year corresponding to the session in question.
Consult the didactic calendar which specifies the corresponding academic year and the deadlines for presenting apprenticeships, study programmes, etc.
The first and second points refer to graduating with a Bachelor and a Master's degrees, whereas the third point refers only to graduating with a Master's degree.
1. Presentation of the request
The graduating student shall present the request for graduating by compiling the online "Insertion of the reques to graduate" in the indicated periods.
Once the graduating student has saved the compiled form, the supervisor of the thesis will be notified automatically by mail in order to approve the request. The supervisor must access the online service "gestione domande tesi on line" to approve the request.
2. Consolidation of the request and printing of the bulletin
Once the supervisor approves the request, the student will be notified automatically by mail, after which
the graduating student must re-enter to the page in order to:
- consolidate the request ( clicking on "chiudi e presenta la domanda" (close and present the request) within the established deadline.
- print form INC1 and to pay the fees. The deadline for the payment of fees is indicated in the form.
Notes
- Only after approval by the supervisor is it possible for the student to consolidate the request.
- Only after the consolidation of the request it is possible to print form INC1.
- The title of the thesis' as inserted by the student will be transferred into the official documents without further control by the office, therefore students are required to pay attention because once the request is closed it is not possible to change the title of the thesis anymore.
Once the request has been consolidated the procedure for obtaining the Bachelor's Degree is concluded and may not be modified.
3. Exclusively for graduating with a Master's degree
The graduating student must upload the file with his thesis and the supervisor must validate it.
After the approval of the request, the graduating student must upload the following documents:
a) thesis
b) abstract
c) index
These files may initially be uploaded in a draft version and it is possible to make changes to them several times (in order for the supervisor to follow the progressive elaboration of the thesis.
The file with the thesis must contain the complete thesis ( including text, photos, design panels, etc.) in an single file not larger than 20 megabytes.
The file replaces the paper copy for the library.
The three files must be validated by the supervisor within the expected deadline.
The files, in order to be validated, should be uploaded by the graduating student in their final version (stato definitivo) and in PDF/A format.
Once the supervisor has validated the uploaded thesis it is no longer possible to insert, modify or replace files.
The validated files will be archived, and if authorized by the graduating student may be consulted by others.
Necessary files for the discussion of the thesis (eventually paper copies of the thesis, panels, models, etc) should be agreed with the supervisor.
Notifications by mail are sent only at the institutional electronic mailbox (name.surname@stud.unifi.it).

Further indications on how to compile the request of the thesis online
1. Assistant supervisors (contingent, not obligatory)
Contingent assistant supervisors may be inserted in "Eventuale correlatore". For each assistant supervisor the following information should be provided:
- qualification (PhD, M.A., M.Sc, Mr,, etc)
- name;
- surname;
- e-mail address
Notice that this field is a free text space and that the inserted data by the graduating student will be transferred to the calendar without further control by the office. The graduating students are therefore requested to pay careful attention while inserting this information.
2. Other information (notes, required equipment, contingent attachment to the non digital thesis)
2.1 Notes – At the space "Notes" it is recommended to insert any possible additional students who have collaborated on the same thesis. In this way these students will be included with the same Graduating Committee so that they may discuss the thesis together. For each graduating student it is possible to insert the same thesis' topic and the same text of the thesis.
2.2 Required equipment – Here, it is possible to insert, for example, a projector, or any other necessary equipment. The graduating student must provide this equipment himself.
2.3 Attachments to the non digital thesis – Here the graduating student can add, for example, a model.
3. Exams to point out
Indicate any passed exams which have not yet been registered, as well as any exams which have not yet been taken.
Attention: compiling the request for thesis on-line does not mean that there are no problems related to exams and fees. The secretariat is expected to make a check-up regarding the regularity of the process. |
Exam transcripts
The exam transcripts need not be presented.
With the exception of the students enrolled before the academic year 2009/2010 which are required to send a copy of their own exam transcripts, annotating the passed exams, to the Student Secretariat, by fax to this number 055/2756707, or as scanned copy by mail to: architet@adm.unifi.it
Renouncement
If the request has been approved by the supervisor but has not yet been consolidated, it is sufficient to non- consolidate. In case of a consolidated request, cancelling can be done by clicking "cancel request". It is necessary to renounce as soon as possible in order to avoid being called in by the commission.
Feature of the final requirement
According to the Student Guide, some of the Courses have particular ways in which to present the thesis (for example the number of panels necessary for the discussion, the panel format, etc.). It is therefore recommended to refer to the Guide, in particular to the section which includes the necessary appropriate information.
